About
Peer Frantzen studied architecture at the Berlin University of the Arts, while taking up secondary sudies at the Humbold University, where he took classes in philosophy, especially focussing on scientific history. Peer Frantzen spent several years as a research associate in the interdisciplinary Design and Computation program at the Berlin University of the Arts and the Technical University of Berlin, where he worked on several topics including AI, system thinking and cybernetics.
During and after his studies, and academic activities, he worked in various architecture offices, including Holzer Kobler Architekturen and Deadline Architekten in Berlin, where he contributed to projects of varying scales — from award-winning competitions and public buildings to artistic works and participatory projects.
Over the years Peer became somewhat of an archivist and developed interest in the interplay between the world of ideas and the effects of scientific discovery on society, the interactions between architecture, technology, and society. A special focus of his work lies in the relationship between theories of mind, especially Associationism and concepts of taste and meaning. More recently he has been tracing a history of the architectural profession within the dynamics of class struggle, institutional development and revolution.
